Life After the Swarm:
With the forced restructuring and downsizing of A.E.G.I.S., many of the proxy bases were decommissioned and returned to the various military forces; many of the A.E.G.I.S. members were reactivated by their prior organizations. In a sense, with the defeat and death of H.I.V.E., it had also meant the demise of A.E.G.I.S., or at least that’s what many people thought. The A.E.G.I.S. HQ (the subterranean, geo-front fortress) remained as the primary base of operations, recalling nearly all active-duty members from the closed-down proxy bases.
Essentially forgotten by the world’s leaders and nations, A.E.G.I.S. maintained operations as a counter-terrorism force as well as intelligence gathering agency. Col. Union and many of the members of A.E.G.I.S. knew all too well that it was too early to simply relax upon their laurels, pacified with the belief that the H.I.V.E. had been bested.
Then the global economy suffered the collapse of many of the richest nations’ markets, further hurting the funding to A.E.G.I.S. Scandal after scandal broke out upon the global news of corruption and greed at the highest levels of power. Now the nations of the world were facing a breakup of their united efforts, while crime and poverty became rife throughout the third world, and even stretching into the richest nations.
A.E.G.I.S. analysts are disturbed by the global economic collapse and believe that an old adversary may not be truly defeated. A.E.G.I.S. prepares to once again stand as the defense against the terrors from the shadows…
